Approved Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Provider

The Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) division of the FBI provides state, local, and federal law enforcement the necessary information to access criminal justice information (CJIS). Fingerprint records and criminal histories are often required for law enforcement to obtain the required information needed to properly execute justice in our society at large.

CJIS History

In 1924, the FBI created an identification division to consistently gather fingerprints from various police agencies throughout the country and subsequently search for them upon request from authorities for any potential matches to criminals and other crime evidence. The CJIS Division was established in February of 1992 out of the former Identification Division to ultimately serve as a focal point and thereby a central repository for any criminal justice information services within various law enforcement agencies.

The Importance Of Fingerprints

Fingerprints serve as a really important component of CJIS. Fingerprints vary from person to person which is uniquely why they are one of the best ways for law enforcement agencies to narrow down criminals and track them as necessary. They are one of the most effective and efficient ways to identify criminals and fugitives which can help to prove both guilt and innocence among people within the justice system.

Bank Employees And Other Professionals

Depending on the type of industry you work in, you may be required to have a fingerprint check conducted. The banking industry is a leader when it comes to ensuring that all employees have their fingerprint and background check completed before starting the job to make sure all potential employees meet all state regulations when working in a private and secure sector.
